Production of Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti Suspended Due to Snags in Hardware

It seems as if the RTX 3090 Ti by Nvidia, said to be one of the most remarkable graphic cards for prosumers, may have had a run in with production issues, and those issues are likely going to delay the release date, which was set to have more information revealed “Later in January”.

TweakTown issued a report that stated sources told them board partners of Nvidia were directed to suspend production of the up-and-coming RTX 3090 Ti graphics cards; however, the report did say that sources did not tell them what issue led to the requested pause. Meanwhile, Nvidia is said to h have suspended its production of the Founders’ Edition of the graphics card.

It’s said that the pause is only expected to be temporary, and if that’s the case, the delay in production should only be a momentary blip. It is also important to note that Nvidia did not actually set a solid date for the release of the graphics card, so though many were anticipating a release date of January 27, 2022, Nvidia never confirmed this date.

So, what is it that could have sparked the production pause? Well, according to Videocardz, sources told did confirm the suspension, and thus, the delayed release date, they also stated that there appear to be two issues that led to the problem: an issue with BIOS and hardware problems. While no additional details were offered, a hardware issue would be a lot more problematic than bad BIOS; however, either issue would most certainly result in a setback of the predicted release date of January 27, 2022.

We reached out to Nvidia for comment, but have not yet received a response. If and when we do receive a response, we will update this story with any pertinent information we receive.

Assessment

Once the RTX 3090 Ti does hit the market, it will be virtually impossible to find even if circumstances in production were good. With that said, the fact that it will take a little bit longer to get it really isn’t all that much of a concern. Once we have more information on the Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti release, we’ll let you know via our Twitter and Discord!
